HAJJI BISASO TAKES LEAD IN KASSANDA SOUTH POLLS AS PEOPLE DEMAND PRESENCE, ACTION

HAJJI BISASO TAKES LEAD IN KASSANDA SOUTH POLLS AS PEOPLE DEMAND PRESENCE AND ACTION.

Kassanda South – A new wave of leadership is emerging in Kassanda South, and it carries the name Hajji Abdul Bisaso, the man now leading the 2026 parliamentary opinion polls with a commanding 38%, according to the latest findings by Afrobarometer.

Well-known across the constituency for his passion for education and youth empowerment through sports, Bisaso has built his reputation over the years as Chairman of Ssingo Saza FC and Director of Highway SS Kiganda. His consistent involvement in grassroots tournaments and education development has earned him the nickname “Ssebanja” a title of action and trust, likening his service to that of Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, who is widely respected for hands-on leadership.

This surge in popularity marks a dramatic shift in the political dynamics of Kassanda South. Frank Kabuye, the incumbent MP who won the last election with 57% under the NUP ticket, has seen his support drop sharply to 24%. Voters cite his continued absence from the constituency and lack of visibility as major reasons for their disappointment. “We don’t see him, and we don’t feel him,” a resident in Kassanda South remarked.

Trailing behind is Simeo Nsubuga with 16%, the former MP who served from 2016 to 2021. While still remembered, his previous term seems not to have inspired enough momentum for a strong comeback.

Michael Muhumuza, also known as “Suula Mpya,” has registered 11% in the polls, though he is reported to have dropped out of the race, leaving his support base in limbo.

The current Speaker of Kassanda District, Katumba Godfrey, and Councillor for Nyanzi Sub-county, holds 8%, but analysts say he has not yet managed to energize the grassroots beyond local leadership.

A surprise name on the list is Eria Mubiru, who has entered the race only within the past month and scored 3%. Known more for spending money and distributing meat at events than for a clear political agenda, many locals admit they don’t even know where he comes from or what he stands for. "He just appeared with money, but we don’t know the man,” said a youth leader in Kassanda South.

A New Direction

With Hajji Bisaso now leading the polls, many see the momentum shifting toward service delivery, presence, and community engagement. His approach, rooted in empowering youth, supporting talents, and staying close to the people, has positioned him as the man of the moment.

As the 2026 elections approach, Kassanda South is clearly craving more than party labels or promises they want a leader who walks with them, listens to them, and delivers results.
